Problem

The retreat was taking bookings over phone and WhatsApp, which meant the packages, the meals, and what there is to do nearby all had to be explained by hand every time, and an enquiry arrived as a loose message rather than as something you could quote against.

Role

Designed and built the site and the enquiry flow.

Key decisions

Static pages rather than a CMS. The content — packages, meals, sightseeing — changes a few times a year, and a CMS would have added an admin to maintain and plugins to keep patched in exchange for editing convenience nobody needed. The enquiry form asks for package and guest count as fields rather than leaving them to a free-text message, so a reply can carry a price without a round trip first.

Challenges

Sending mail from a site with no application server of its own is the awkward part, and a booking form that fails quietly is worse than no form at all — an enquiry that never arrives is a booking the property never knows it lost.

Outcome

Live at waterpearl.lk, taking booking enquiries for the property.
